Dear Members: On behalf of the 2007-2008 Board of Directors, I am writing you to thank you for your ongoing commitment to and support of NGRA. We’ve accomplished a lot in the last year, including a donation of $15,000 to the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada. There are many ways we need your help this year. Get involved in one of the committees: we need help in fundraising and rodeo planning. There is a lot to do to get ready for BigHorn Rodeo 2008! We could also use your help on the Board of Directors. The current board’s term ends on April 30, 2008 and the 2008-2009 board’s term starts on May 1, 2008. The following positions are up for election:
- Vice President
- Secretary
- 4 Member at Large positions
The Vice President’s primary responsibility is to run the monthly member of the month selection process and the member of the year selection process. The Vice President also is in charge of meetings that the President cannot attend and ascends to the presidency if the President is unable to fulfill his duties. The Secretary creates correspondence for the organization, records correspondence, ensures delivery of special notices, maintains minutes of the various meetings, keeps a roll of attendance, and works with the President to develop the agenda for all the meetings. Members-at-large act as liaisons between the membership and the Board of Directors. They also do other duties as assigned or prescribed by the Board, including things such as editing the newsletter or serving as the funding policy coordinator.
The board has approved my appointment of Winsor Cooper as the election chair. Winsor has run several of our elections, and he has the full confidence of the Board. If you would like to run for a position, please send Winsor an e-mail indicating your intent to run for the position, plus a bio of yourself and why you think you’d be good in the position.
