General

Dear Members: On behalf of the 2007-2008 Board of Directors, I am writing you to thank you for your ongoing commitment to and support of NGRA.    We’ve accomplished a lot in the last year, including a donation of $15,000 to the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada. There are many ways we need your help this year.  Get involved in one of the committees: we need help in fundraising and rodeo planning.  There is a lot to do to get ready for BigHorn Rodeo 2008! We could also use your help on the Board of Directors.  The current board’s term ends on April 30, 2008 and the 2008-2009 board’s term starts on May 1, 2008. The following positions are up for election:

  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • 4 Member at Large positions

The Vice President’s primary responsibility is to run the monthly member of the month selection process and the member of the year selection process.  The Vice President also is in charge of meetings that the President cannot attend and ascends to the presidency if the President is unable to fulfill his duties. The Secretary creates correspondence for the organization, records correspondence, ensures delivery of special notices, maintains minutes of the various meetings, keeps a roll of attendance, and works with the President to develop the agenda for all the meetings. Members-at-large act as liaisons between the membership and the Board of Directors.  They also do other duties as assigned or prescribed by the Board, including things such as editing the newsletter or serving as the funding policy coordinator.

The board has approved my appointment of Winsor Cooper as the election chair.  Winsor has run several of our elections, and he has the full confidence of the Board.   If you would like to run for a position, please send Winsor an e-mail indicating your intent to run for the position, plus a bio of yourself and why you think you’d be good in the position.  These e-mails must be received by March 15.  Send them to: ngravolunteers@aol.com. Thank you!Shaun Sewell

Hi, I’m Chuck Cavanaugh. I’ve been working on the NGRA and BigHorn Rodeo sites for a few years now. Four years?

Anyway, this is the new blog feature. We’ll soon know whether or not anybody has any interest in this feature. I’m thinking that the principal NGRA officers might want to use it to notify everybody directly of what’s going on in their particular areas. And anybody can post a comment as a follow-up to a previous post. Seems like it may be handy.

If you are a volunteer at NGRA and you think you probably should have access to post news here directly, then the simplest thing is if you just post a comment in response to this message. That will require you to create an account (very simple process) and then Shaun Sewell can upgrade you to Editor status. That will allow you to post new messages for all the world to see.

Any questions? Post a comment here please.
